Control existing weeds
Our hydroseed materials are completely free of weeds; however unwanted weed seed is almost always present in topsoil. We recommend an application of a non-selective herbicide, such as Roundup.
That area can then be seeded within as little as 24 hours, but we suggest waiting a few days.

Remove all Rocks and Debris
This will ensure a smooth, seamless application. Rocks often result in unexpected sharp or hard sports in your lawn.
Add topsoil (or modify existing soil)
The quality of your finished lawn depends on site preparation prior to hydroseeding.
Grass can grow on native soil, but we suggest adding 3-4 inches of topsoil.

Apply any yard designs
Install flower beds, rock gardens, and underground sprinklers.
Smooth and pack the surface prior to hydroseeding
This is the final step before applying mulch seed to the grounds.
We suggest lightly packing the grounds, followed by loosening the top 1/4 inch of soil.
